“Love Tenderly” is a choreographic exploration of trauma as it passes through generations. Informed by my family as bodily carriers of the Vietnam War, the performance is a solo piece that looks at trauma as a universal experience through its imprint on the individual. It is a work about how trauma operates and shapes people as a whole – trauma as a force and a tendency, written on the body – and an investigation in how to support the body to share, and thus move, what it carries.
