Saigon is an ongoing field research for a performative solo. Tony Tran enters the history of his Vietnamese family in Norway as a way of looking at identity conflicts in contemporary society: his parents’ lives as war refugees and boat people, and the traces that war, displacement, and arrival in a new home leave across generations.

The work asks what happens to a family when it is displaced, what is transmitted into the new home, and what remains of the old one. Personal history meets a larger chapter of Norway’s recent history, connecting an intimate family microcosm to wider political and social forces.
