SCHISMOGENESIS

Two men perform a ritual: a playful, animal-like choreography built through repetitive movement and physical attacks. Their bodies merge and separate as rhythmic beats, light, and shadow intensify an intimate world. Schismogenesis is a collaboration between choreographers and dancers Tony Tran and Antero Hein.

Inspired by Gregory Bateson’s theory of schismogenesis, the project explores physical partnering as a force that affects and regulates the dynamics between two parties. As boundaries are repeatedly crossed, the relationship escalates and exposes both risk and vulnerability.
