About

Yellow Skin is a new performance work by Tony Tran, Louise Paolo de Venecia and Sun Phitthaya Phaefuang, three queer performers from Southeast Asian diasporic backgrounds.

The work explores how Southeast Asian people have historically been represented and caricatured in Europe, and how these images continue to shape the ways our bodies and identities are seen and understood.

Through choreography, karaoke, drag, ballroom, Vietnamese Lô Tô bingo shows and popular culture, we enter these stereotypes to disrupt, rewrite and reclaim them.

The performance brings together three core performers from the Southeast Asian diaspora and invites two local performers to join in each touring city. In this way, the work transforms through encounters with local communities, perspectives and lived experiences.

Beyond the performance, Yellow Skin seeks to create dialogue with local cultural organisations, diaspora communities and municipal partners, opening up broader conversations about representation, diversity and belonging.
