Open Call for Artistic Research & Process-Based Projects

For: Vietnamese Nationals & Artists from Khanh Hoa region

INTRODUCTION

Between rivers, coastlines, memories, migration routes, and disappearing landscapes; artistic practices can become ways of listening closely to a place and the people who inhabit it.

Program Grands Crus and Nổ Cái Bùm invite artists, choreographers, performers, curators, writers, researchers, and interdisciplinary practitioners across Vietnam to apply for artistic research and development program taking place from August 2026 to December 2026 – until Nổ Cái Bùm 2026 festival.

Developed in dialogue with Nổ Cái Bùm Season 4: Between the Waters, this open call seeks projects that engage with movement, locality, ecology, cultural memory, community, and processes of exchange. Rooted in the Mekong Delta – particularly the former Bến Tre and Trà Vinh regions in Vĩnh Long province – the program reflects on water not only as geography, but as movement, connection, transformation, labor, and survival.

WHO CAN APPLY

1. National Open Call

Open to artists and practitioners based anywhere in Vietnam.

2. Regional Open Call — Khanh Hoa Region

Dedicated to artists and practitioners living and working in Khanh Hoa province and the South Central Coast region, supporting practices rooted in local contexts and community engagement.

We welcome applications from:

  • Artists, choreographers, performers, curators, writers, researchers, and interdisciplinary practitioners
  • Emerging and independent practitioners
  • Applications must be project-based for individuals or small collectives working across performance, dance, theater, and related hybrid forms, in collaboration with visual art, sound, moving image, or social practice.
  • Applicants interested in process-based, research-driven, experimental, or community-rooted methodologies
