ENCRYPTION

Encryption is a performance inspired by illegal surveillance, data mining, and the human relationship to technology. As the capacity to gather and manipulate data expands, representations of people and events can be constructed for almost any purpose, opening a divide between the world as represented and lived reality.

The performance enters this ambivalent landscape, where the line between the real and the fabricated has become blurred. Body and image explore the space between contradictory forces, where reality can lose its integrity without us fully recognising how or why it matters.

Encryption is a collaboration between artists from different disciplines, developed through two complementary approaches to a shared theme.
