LOVE TENDERLY

In the solo performance Love Tenderly, Norwegian–Vietnamese choreographer and performer Tony Trinh Tran examines the perspectives projected onto his body—his own and those of the outside world. Growing up in Norway as a gay boy in a Catholic family with Vietnamese heritage becomes a constant negotiation between a world where identity no longer limits us and the reality of always being asked to fit somewhere.

Love Tenderly is the translation of his father’s name. A continuously transforming body reveals the desires, racisms, clichés, and accumulated generational traumas it carries, together with their emotional, psychological, and social effects.

A story of emancipation gradually emerges through energies and form, inviting the audience to look differently at themselves and ask: Who am I, and if so, how many?
